Inspiration, orientation, passion

The Accademia Liuteria Piemontese San Filippo is a cultural training space, housed in the San Filippo complex, in which activities related to violin making and music are promoted, including courses to learn the fundamentals of the construction of stringed and plucked instruments, in biennial training courses.

We are lovers of violin making, we look to the future with confidence and we share our passion, passing on the ancient art to those who want to make it theirs.

During the training period, the student will learn how to design, manufacture and test the instrument and will come into contact with new technologies applied to the field of musical instruments and related to the fields of research, diagnostics and restoration

Research

The Academy team is made up of specialists who study the acoustic, mechanical and structural properties of the musical instrument.

In the spaces of the Academy, seminars are organized, connected to the world of violin making, and concerts by talented young musicians

We organize guided tourist and educational tours for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, appointments dedicated to families with children

What are the objectives of the research activities?

Through the use of scientific instruments, details related to the traditional construction methods of the luthiers who have worked in the Piedmont area are documented. The luthier is offered concrete tools to obtain the best acoustic performances from his instrument, and to improve the sound of instruments entrusted to him.

How do you become a luthier?

The academy offers courses, which give the basic skills to start the profession. You become a master luthier over time, perfecting the skills that our school teaches.
