Stefano Bertoli graduated from the Civic School of Violin Making in Milan in 2014 specializing in the construction and restoration of violins, violas and cellos.
He continued his learning path with Master Carlo Chiesa, first with an internship and then winning the grant offered by the “Fondazione Cologni Mestieri d’Arte”, through which he became passionate about aesthetic research and stylistic features of classic models. The collaboration with the Master is still active, both in terms of restoration and construction of new instruments.
In 2015 he opened his violin making workshop in Milan and later decided to expand it to the participation of three young violin makers, in the belief that the exchange of experience and knowledge contributes to enriching mutual professionalism. In 2017 he attended a wood sculpture course for the creation of bowed instruments heads, held by Master Enrico Allorto.
He participated to the “Triennale Competition” of Cremona and the Chinese violin making fair “Music China”, where he exhibited his instruments. In 2018 he was hired by the Civic School of Milan as teacher of the violin making restoration course. In 2020 he won the “Artisan of the Heart” award by “Wellmade” in collaboration with “Fondazione Cologni Mestieri d’Arte”.
Starting from October 2020 he’s the teacher of violin making full-time course at the Accademia di Liuteria Piemontese.
